CRITICALLY NEEDED BOOKS RECEIVED

Lilongwe, Malawi … The Kabudula Community Secondary School, situated west of the capital, caters to 300 students. Regrettably, like many schools in Malawi, the school lacks sufficient textbooks and other learning materials. This is evident in one of its rooms, which houses not only the deputy head teacher but also the merger school library. Fortunately, Action for Progress recently provided school textbooks to the school through contributions from schools in the United States. Head teacher Mr. Legani Chimutu expressed sincere gratitude for this invaluable assistance.

Mpanda Community Secondary School, situated in the western region of Lilongwe, encounters challenges similar to those faced by Kabudula. The school is in dire need of essential resources such as books, school supplies, including pens, pencils, and paper, teachers, and classrooms. Recently, AfP provided books to the school, which was gratefully received and acknowledged by Edith Mumba, the deputy head teacher.

On the same day, AfP donated books to Mpanda, they also visited the Nsaru Secondary School to make another donation. Like the other teachers, the head teacher of Nsaru, Hedrick Kumwenda, expressed her sincere appreciation for the donations. He said, “The supplementary books add knowledge to learners because they find relevant information in addition to what they have learned in class. As such, they will use these books to gain knowledge of school curriculum as well as some information that may help them in their daily lives. To the teachers, it will also help them gain more knowledge apart from what they know already because learning never stops or ends”.

These donations were reported on by Lezina Dankein.
