NELSON HAS GONE HOME

Nelson

NelsonLilongwe, Malawi … Three times in recent months the Malawi Project reported on a young man by the name of Nelson. Nelson was in the Kamuzu Central Hospital after being seriously burned when he touched electric lines and electricuted. To those who came in contact with him Nelson personified the spirit of optimism. In spite of his serious condition Nelson shared a smile with everyone who came into his hospital room. While ignoring his present condition Nelson would smile and say, “Tomorrow I am going home.

Stories about Nelson appeared on the Project’s web site on June 11, July 8 and July 14. They can be seen at: [ https://www.malawiproject.org/?s=nelson ].

Toward the end of June members of the Malawi Project had local artist Malgwa Kingsley paint a rendition of Nelson and Suzi Stephens, both of whom served as an inspiration to each other while Nelson was in the hospital. The painting was her gift to him.

No better news could reach the Project team after their return to the states than the news that Nelson has healed enough he was able to return to his home in Kasungu, Malawi. His words had come true and that “tomorrow” had arrived.
