“THERE IS A LOT OF COLOR LEFT IN THEM”

26929282776_c45af9f586_mIndianapolis, Indiana … “Kids helping Kids” is one of the most successful programs carried out by the Malawi Project. Kids offer their imagination, their creativeness, their unselfishness, and their belief that all things are possible. The following story is one of those stories that remind all of us just how committed kids can be to helping other kids.

NOTE: THIS PROGRAM HAS ENDED.

It wass during the recently concluded pill container collection program that her parents became involved in collecting pill containers for Malawi. Their daughter Olivia helped the effort by putting the bottles in a bowl of water overnight, then helping scratch off the labels the next day. When that job was completed she helped box them and went to the post office with her mother to send them to the Malawi Project.

In it she offered her crayons to the children of Malawi. Members of the Project were very impressed that Olivia would offer to send new crayons to Malawi, while at the same time being warned to expect to receive a few “slightly used” crayons in the box. When her mother had mentioned sending only new ones Olivia questioned why they would send only new ones. Why not send some used ones? After all, she concluded concerning the crayons she was using, “I still use them, there’s lot’s of color left in them.”
