FOUNDATION SNUGLY IN PLACE

Lilongwe, Malawi … With the footings poured, the rebar in place, the 22-man crew from Diamond Construction moves quickly to complete the foundation for the new Action for Progress warehouse and distribution center. The building measures approximately 137 feet x 75 feet with the flooring 3 feet higher than the surrounding ground level. This will safeguard against heavy monsoon flooding that can affect the area during the intense rainy season from November to April.

Construction is already moving ahead of the planned schedule of completion by the end of July of this year, and the completion date will come none-too-soon. There are already two more 40-foot shipping containers on the ocean, scheduled for arrival in Malawi shortly after the first of July.

With the ceremony of introduction completed, the next big event will be the day the Board from Action for Progress cuts the ribbon and opens the sliding doors to begin use of the warehouse. Plans call for the continued support from the Malawi Project to make available the agricultural, medical and educational supplies needed for the people of Malawi.
